The Broadway Theater is 1 of only 28 remaining Historic African American Theaters in the United States. Eric Ledell Smith, a noted historian on African American Theater Buildings, wrote that in 1955 there were 2,500 theaters.

All proceeds from the Gala directly benefit the Restoration of the Sattler Broadway Theater and the Bob Coles Multi-Media Student Training and Scholarship Program. In addition, Western New York Minority Media Professionals Inc. will continue to provide training programs, as it has for thousands of students for more than 20 years. We are proud that members of our alumni are employed in commercial media and the motion picture industry today.

The evening will include the music of the Herb Small Quartet. A sculptor and artist, Herb painted the impressive mural on the celebrated Colored Musicians Club.
